Youth is NOT an Excuse Youth Is NOT An Excuse Jeremiah 1:1–12 INTRODUCTION D.L. Moody was once asked after a worship service, “How many converts did you have tonight?” He answered, “Two and ˝.” The other person said, “Two adults and one child?” “No,” Moody replied, “Two children and one adult. A child converted is an entire life converted.” The Youth of the church IS its future. The time to commit your life to Christ is NOW! Eccl. 12:1 Jeremiah was a youth who was called to serve God. He was no different than any young person today, yet the Lord used him in a spectacular way. I. Jeremiah was Reluctant. A. Like most people today, young and old, when God called, Jeremiah made excuses. B. Age is no excuse to God. II. God was Relentless. A. He answered Jeremiah’s objections. 1. Don’t use age as an excuse when God says you are ready. 2. Don’t use fear as an excuse, God says He’ll be with you. B. 1 Timothy 4:12 III. God’s Reassurance. A. God knows that we will be tempted by fear and doubt, so he helps us. B. Just as God gave Jeremiah the words to say, he also tells us what to say. 2 Timothy 4:1–2 C. He left us with a reminder. 1. Jeremiah was given an almond branch. 2. We were given Jesus. 3. Philippians 4:13 Look at the results of Jeremiah’s commitment to God at an early age.
