Where Are We Going?

Where Are We Going?

Observing humans running around in a shopping mall is very interesting. I enjoy sitting on a bench in the mall and watching all of the people pass by and I look at them with amazement.  I am sure that you have some that would rather not be there, just like me.  You have couples pushing baby strollers, security people strolling around, some people are walking around eating ice cream and drinking a coke, and everyone in a hurry to go and spend money in the different shops and stores. It is actually entertaining!

Certainly no one entering the mall has hell as their destination, but no doubt many of them are headed the wrong direction in life. Many are so consumed with making the almighty dollar, and spending it, that they simply do not have time for the great destination of heaven. What a trap! Imagine being so caught up in this dying, deteriorating, temporary world that you do not prepare for the eternal life God has promised to those who love and serve Him. It saddens me to think that Satan has some of us so tangled in his web that we will never get out.

You don’t have to go to a mall to observe this scene. It’s everywhere around us. Being in this great nation can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how we live out our lives. Sometimes even we, as Christians, get so busy running around and doing our thing, that God is barely considered throughout the day. Christians, just as the individuals running around in the mall, must watch out for the money pit.
So, again I ask the question,Where are we going?” and secondly, “Will we get there?”

The righteous man of Psalm I says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” We also read of the people in Berea who “received the word with great eagerness, examining the scripture daily, to see whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

If we really want to be successful we need to run the race of faith, “fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2), Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Then we will be truly blessed, not only now, but throughout eternity.  Let’s make sure we get where we are going!!

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where you treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:19-21
