Can Jesus Trust You?

Can Jesus Trust You?

John 2:23-25

"Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.   But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”

The best decision anyone could ever make is to put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. No one loves us more than Jesus – no one will ever have our back more than Jesus – no one does more for us than Jesus – He is the best friend we will ever have because He always wants what is best for us.  He is worthy of our trust, allegiance, and devotion; and He has sacrificed it all out of love for us.

In John 2:23-25 we read about Jesus, mankind, and faith.  However, John does not speak only of how reliable Jesus is, but how Jesus knew better than to trust mankind "because He Himself knew what was in man”.  Now that’s not something we usually spend much time contemplating. In this passage the tables are turned on us because we have to look in the spiritual mirror and ask ourselves, "Can Jesus trust me?” Are we anywhere close to being as trustworthy to Jesus as He is to us OR are we strictly in this Christianity thing, relationship, just to see what Jesus will do for us?

Many people flocked around Jesus not because He deserved their loyalty; rather, they were self-centered and followed Him because of what Jesus might provide for them. In John 6:15 they want to force Jesus to become king – not because He wanted it but because this was a manipulative way for them to get Jesus to provide for them. When Jesus pressed them on their loyalty, devotion and commitment to Him they dropped like flies.

This passage should touch our hearts and cause us to say, "Jesus, I am going to show you by the way I live that you can trust me – I am going to make the greatest effort ever to be the kind of friend to You that You are to me.”
