Twos In The New Testament

TWOS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

1.      TWO MASTERS

       A. Luke 16:13 - "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the   one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."(riches)

1. There are two real masters fighting for possession of our souls. Jehovah God and the Devil are locked in a struggle for every soul who has ever lived and ever will live on this earth.

B. The Devil seeks to draw us away from the Lord to destroy us.

1. Luke 22:31 - And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.

2. 1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

2.   TWO PATHS

Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

This shows that:
a. It takes no real effort to be lost

b. The way of salvation requires effort

c. God's people will always be in a minority -

d. The majority will be lost.

Deuteronomy 30:19 - "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”

 3. TWO KINGDOMS

Colossians 1:13-14  "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

4. TWO DESTINIES

Matthew 25:46 - "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Revelation 20:12-15  "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Which of the two Masters do you serve?

Which of the two Paths are you traveling?

In which of the two Kingdoms do you find yourself presently?

Which of the two Destinies will be your eternal home?
