The Doctrine of Salvation

I.      Introduction

A.    We who have faith in Christ Jesus believe that the Bible is God’s message to man.  We believe this because we have found that it is quite reasonable to accept that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

1.     The internal evidence of its inspiration is highly convincing, considering its flawless unity and many fulfilled prophecies.

2.     The external evidence is no less impressive as it has been proven to be accurate both historically and geographically on every point that can be checked.

3.     Though often challenged, its authenticity must be accepted on the basis of the many ancient manuscripts and secular references that support it.  The original writings by the original writers have been preserved through the years of history.

4.     In short, the Bible is a document that cannot be explained on the basis of human abilities alone.  Only divine inspiration can sufficiently explain it.

B.    Therefore, when it comes to the doctrine of salvation for the soul, the Bible is the only document to consult.

1.     Men have many opinions about salvation - how it is obtained, how it is retained, if it can be lost, if it is even necessary, etc.
