Welcome to the
Land Between the Lakes church of Christ

NEW IN THIS YEAR

By Terry Joe Key

We have a new covenant. Jeremiah prophesied a new covenant. (Jeremiah 31:31-34) Paul said we have that covenant. (Hebrews 9:15-17; 12:24) Jesus was seen as preaching a new doctrine. (Mark 1:27) Athenians asked Paul to tell this "new doctrine.” (Acts 17:19) This new covenant began after Jesus rose from Joseph’s new tomb. (Matt. 27:60) We are called to walk in the new and living way. (Hebrews 10:20) The New Covenant makes new creatures. In Christ we are new creatures. (2 Cor. 4:17; Gal 6:15) We are given a new name. (Isaiah 62:2; Acts 11:26; Rev 2:17; Rev. 3:12) We must be a new man, the old man must die. (Ephesians 4:24; Col. 31:10) God’s children must have a new spirit. (Ezekiel 11:19; 18:31; 36:26) We have a new commandment. (John 13:34; I John 2:8; 2 John 5:6) The New Covenant leads new creatures to the new heavens and new earth. We are longing for the new land. (2 Peter 3:13) Our city is New Jerusalem. (Rev. 21:1-4) In this city we long to sing a new song. (Isaiah 42:10; Rev. 5:9; 14:3) We long to be in that land where all is made new. (Rev. 21:5) Will you enter this new year as an old man or woman? Or as a new creature in Christ?
