Straddling the Fence

 

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.-- Luke 11:23

 

Sometimes we like to straddle the fence — teeter between one side and the other. Politicians do it all the time. The same lips that kiss babies call for abortion. Nations that cry out for peace build more weapons. In the world, straddling the fence is not uncommon, but with God you cannot straddle the fence. In fact, there is no fence to straddle. With God there is no middle ground, no third choice, no fence to straddle. Spiritual decisions only come in two’s. There are just two masters we can follow — God or Mammon. Mammon is riches, things of a worldly and material nature. God has made it clear that you cannot serve both Him and mammon. Choose one or the other, but not both. There is no fence to straddle.No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13)  There are ju
