I Wish....

All of us have regrets. Isn’t it safe to say, all of us as parents will have regrets about some things we did or did not do with our children? It has been said that the greatest challenge in the world is to be a good father or mother. We are not perfect and we will make mistakes, and one mistake here or there can usually be overcome. But there will be regrets.

In speaking with a friend last week, he was very encouraged and uplifted by the home Bible studies that his family had begun about a year ago. At the same time, he voiced concern that it was too late. His three kids are teenagers and in the process of leaving home. Wonderful parents and wonderful kids – I know personally, but there is also a dad who knows he wasn’t serious enough, early enough, in teaching his kids the Bible.

He doesn’t want me, or you, to experience the same regret. We should heed the words of Moses, in application, and teach the Word of God to our children:

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.Deuteronomy 6.6-9

Start today, or you will wish you did.
