Three Great Works

 

Remember that there are three great works that the church is commissioned to carry out .

 

They are :

Benevolence - n. [L. benevolentia, of bene, well and volo, to will or wish.] The disposition to do good; good will; kindness; charitableness; the love,of mankind, accompanied with a desire to promote their happiness. The benevolence of God is one of his moral attributes; that attribute which delights in the happiness of intelligent beings. "God is love." 1 John 4. An act of kindness; good done; charity given.

 

Evangelize -  v.t. [Low L. evangelizo.] To instruct in the gospel; to preach the gospel to, and convert to a belief of the gospel; as, to evangelize heathen nations; to evangelize the world. v.i. To preach the gospel.

 

Edification - n. [L. oedificatio.]  A building up, in a moral and religious sense; instruction; improvement and progress of the mind, in knowledge, in morals, or in faith and holiness. He that prophesieth, speaketh to men to edification. 1 Cor 14. Instruction; improvement of the mind in any species of useful knowledge.
