Can A Person Know For Sure They Will Go To Heaven?

Can a person know for sure that when they die, they will go to Heaven?

Most people just hope so, but God wants people to know so!

The Bible was given so that mankind would know certain things about God and man.  One of these is to know for sure that you can go to be with the Lord when this life is over.  The Biblical terms of “born again, Child of God, the redeemed, the Elect, or the Saved,”  all mean the same thing.  A saved person has done what the Bible says about preparing to go to heaven, for no man will go automatically.  Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.  (John 14:1-6)  My question today is, “Have you prepared the Bible way?”  In Acts 4:12 we read, “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.”  When the Bible speaks about being saved, we have to understand that there must be a real need.  Saved means to be rescued from something, and in this case, it is the penalty upon our sins.  Sin is our act of disobedience against God.  Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”  This is why God says that we must be saved in Acts 4:12.

God wants all of the earth to be saved.  Acts 17:30 says, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now, commandeth all men everywhere to repent.”  Only those who obey God the Bible way will be saved.  A common question that is frequently asked is, “What must I do to be saved?”  Lets look at the Bible way for the answer.  Acts 2:38 says, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of sin,” also Mark 16:16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned.”  Being ready to meet God one day face to face is a very serious matter, and being ready is to be saved.  Again, let us use the Bible to have a clear understanding of the matter; for the Bible is the only source and authority on all matters of Salvation, Heaven, Hell, and Jesus Christ.  First, consider the Bible way with what is says in II Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”  Now is the time for a self-examination of your life with the teachings of the Holy Bible.  As you administer this self-examination, be honest with yourself and God.  Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  Whose commandments are these, man’s or God’s?  These are the commandments of the Most High God.  If you break the laws of man, then you answer to man, but if your break the laws of God, then you will answer to God.  I have a question to ask.  Are you guilty of breaking God’s commandments?  Yes – you are guilty; yes – I am guilty; the entire world is guilty.  For this reason, you and I are what the Bible calls “sinners”.  Ecclesiastes 7:20 states, “For there is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”  Also, Romans 3:23 again states, “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”  Therefore, all of mankind has sinned against God making all men sinners.  Because we have sinned, death came into the world, and must answer to God for what we have done.  Romans 14:12 says, “For everyone of us shall give account of himself to God.”  What are the results of unforgiven sin?  Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death…” This is not only the physical death referred to in Hebrews 9:27, “For it is appointed unto man once to die…” but also, the spiritual death of man which is eternal separation from God.  Ezekiel 18:4 says, “the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”  This death goes beyond the grave.  In Revelation 20:14 we read, “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  The is the second death.”  Because we have sinned against God, because we have not obeyed the Gospel of Christ, our sin will separate us from the Lord God forever in that same lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.”

If you died right now in your sins, where would you go after death?  You cannot go to heaven as a sinner.  You cannot even go into God’s presence as a sinner.  Remember, sin separates you from God.  The only words God will speak to you at Judgment will be those found in Matthew 25:41, “Depart from Me ye cursed into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”  Here is the good news.  According to the Bible way, II Peter 3:9 says, “For the Lord is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Remember the words of Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death..,” now look at the remainder of that verse which says, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”   This gives us hope, and that hope is only in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.  Do you realize that the Bible says that you cannot save yourself?  In Ephesians 2:8-9 we read, “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.”  You see, it is not what you can do, it’s what God has already done.  Only what Christ did can save any sinner that comes to Him in obedience.

How is this done?  How can I be saved from my sins?  IT MUST BE THE BIBLE WAY!!  Here it is: the Bible way.  You must have faith, Romans 10:17, you must believe in God, Hebrews 11:6, John 8:24, repent of your sins, Luke 13:3, confess Jesus as the living Son of God, Matthew 10:32-33, and be baptized (immersed totally) for the remission of your sins, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:15-16, I Peter 3:21, then remain faithful to God to receive the crown of life, Revelation 2:10.  When you do this the Bible way, then you can know that Heaven will be your home, I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
