What Is Driving the Homosexual Agenda?

For all the efforts made to elevate the status of homosexuals in this nation, one would think that they comprised a significant portion of the American population.  This is not the case.  In fact, homosexuals represent a very small percentage of the population.  According to a legal brief filed with the Supreme Court in the Lawrence vs. Texas case (March 26, 2003), the National Health and Social Life Survey “found that 2.8% of the male, and 1.4% of the female population identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual” (via reports from 31 homosexual and pro-homosexual groups).  According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, homosexual households represent only 0.56% of the population (601,209 out of 106,741,426 households).  These numbers give proof that homosexuals are statistically insignificant in the United States.

Nevertheless, the promotion of homosexuality as a normal, moral, “alternative lifestyle” has accelerated with great fervor in this country.  There is an undeniable agenda to advance homosexual behavior throughout the nation to such a degree that the subject is almost unavoidable.  The agenda is abundantly evident in many areas, including the law, politics, education, and entertainment.

On the legal front, homosexuality is constantly gaining legitimacy.  As recently as 1960, all fifty states had laws prohibiting the practice of homosexuality.  Today all of those laws have been overturned, and the final verdict was rendered by the U.S. Supreme Court on November 13, 2003, in the aforementioned Lawrence vs. Texas case.  In that ruling, the Court decided that Texas’ laws against sodomy were unconstitutional, thus voiding those laws in Texas and twelve other states that still had such laws.  Now the pendulum has swung completely to the other side with the legalization of homosexual marriage in Massachusetts (Nov. 18, 2003) and California (May 15, 2008).  California’s law affects the entire nation because the state issues marriage licenses to non-residents, which forces other states to deal with the issue.  (Voters in California will vote on the issue via Proposition 8, the California Marriage Protection Act, in November of 2008.)

In politics, homosexual marriage is an election issue that divides America.  Some politicians advocate a constitutional amendment to protect marriage as a union of a man and a woman so that judges cannot rule otherwise.  If no amendment is passed, then they favor individual state referendums to affirm traditional marriage.  Other politicians say they prefer marriage to be defined at the state level only, which includes rulings by state courts that typically favor homosexuality.  Of course, all of this overlooks the fact that God defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman long ago (Gen. 2:21-24; Matt. 19:4-6).

On the educational front, the homosexual agenda has infiltrated schools as far as the elementary level.  Efforts are made in many schools to portray homosexuals in a positive light, and homosexuality is taught even to kindergarteners.  Books such as Heather Has Two Mommies and Daddy’s Roommate are aimed at small children and have become part of some state school curriculums.  California leads the way in the indoctrination of children with this abomination.  For example, a public elementary school in Sacramento had a “Coming Out Day” just this week (Oct. 23, 2008).  This same school has a “Gay Straight Alliance Club” that meets in a kindergarten classroom and is celebrating “Gay and Lesbian History Month” in October.  Another example is that of a first grade class in San Francisco that was taken to the city hall on a field trip to celebrate their teacher’s homosexual wedding (Oct. 10, 2008).  The California secretary of state warns that if Proposition 8 fails, then elementary school children will be subject to mandatory teaching on the virtues of homosexual marriage.

On the entertainment front, homosexuals are depicted on television shows, in movies, and in books at a rate much greater than they exist in the general population.  If they were accurately represented, then only one out every two hundred characters would be homosexual.  Not only are they depicted more frequently than real life, but also they are shown virtually always in a very positive way contrary to the reality of the homosexual lifestyle.

All of this defies simple logic and provokes this question: If homosexuals represent such a tiny minority of people, then why is this wicked practice advocated so strongly?  The reason is simple – rebellion against God.  The homosexual agenda is just one part of a greater agenda to promote all types of wickedness and evil in this nation and around the world.  Romans 1:18-32 describes a series of steps that occurred when the Gentiles rebelled against God, and that series of steps has become a pattern that is now repeating in our own nation and time.  Give particular attention to verse 32, which states, “And although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”  Those who rebel against God find such perverse joy in their own rebellion and sinful indulgence that they also rejoice at the rebellion of others.  The more perverse the activity, the more they revel in it.  One does not have to be a homosexual to promote the evil cause and share in its condemnation.

Let us make no mistake about it – homosexuality is an abomination against God and a crime against nature (Lev. 18:22; 1Cor. 6:9-11; 1Tim. 1:8-11).  We must not be distracted from this truth by emotional and false arguments about civil rights (homosexuals are not deprived of any civil rights in this country).  Do not be deceived into giving consent for this wicked practice.  “Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves” (Rom. 14:22).  God’s people must stand against this wicked agenda lest we should be swept away with it (do not forget Sodom and Gomorrah – Gen. 19:1-29).  May God’s will be done.
