Nothing But The Truth
In a court of law one takes an oath on the witness stand to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Truth is important in all phases of life. Whether or not one goes to heaven depends on knowing and abiding in the truth of God’s word. Jesus says, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). What is truth? Jesus in praying to God says, "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is Truth" (John 17:17). Only the truth that is contained in the Bible can make us free from sin so we can go to heaven.
If one does not learn and believe God’s word in the Bible, he will be eternally lost. If one believes the truth of God’s word, he will obey everything it says. If one claims to believe God, but does not obey Him, he is not telling the truth. 1 John 2:4 says, "He who says, I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
We cannot pick and choose which of the commandments of God’s word we are going to obey. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.." (Romans 1:18) The denominational world exists because they have set aside the truth of God’s word and added their own false doctrines. Just as the Bible says, "And they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables" (2 Timothy 4:4). There are those who give heed to the "commandments of men who turn from the truth" (Titus 1:14).
