Be Thankful

Be Thankful

Do you know people who complain about everything and are thankful for nothing? What a shame; what a waste; what a lousy way to live a life.

We are so blessed! We live in a free country, filled with food, clothing, homes, and many things we really could get by without. More important than that is the fact that we are saved by the blood of the Lamb of God. We have fellowship with God now, and when we die, we are going to live in the glory of heaven for all of eternity. Is there anyone who could possibly be more blessed than you and me?

Let’ s look at Luke 17:11-19, "And it came to pass, as He went to Jerusalem, that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them, He said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at His feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But, where are the nine?” There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And He said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”

When Jesus heals the ten lepers, only, one comes back to thank Him. Imagine Jesus cleansing you, and you walk away to live your life without thanking Him! All ten should have spent the rest of their lives praising Him for cleansing them. The whole event can make you angry with them.

What about you? Do you take time every single day of your life to thank Jesus Christ for cleansing you of your sins? Do you thank Him for sending Jesus as an offering for our sin? Do you thank Him for preparing for you a place in heaven? Do you thank Him for your family and friends? Do you thank Him for the church? Do you thank Him for providing for you day in and day out, or do you look for the next thing you need, or want, with no gratitude?

Humility and gratitude makes us happier people. Appreciating what Jesus did for us on the cross gives us peace and joy. As we approach this Thanksgiving season, let’s be sure to thank God for the abundance of His blessings toward us; our families; and friends. This is something that should be done every day, and not just one day a year. Thank Him for all that you have, and, remember it is He who allows you to use it daily.

Psalm 100:1-5 "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

We indeed should always be most thankful, and a special thanks to God for making a way for us to escape the wickedness of sin. It is called "salvation” or the way of the cross leads home.
