THE BIBLE IS RIGHT
"The Bible Is Right" (Psalm 33:4)
Every subject addressed by the Bible reveals absolute accuracy which could only have been divinely inspired. Even 500 years ago many people thought the earth was flat and was held up by giant pillars or the back of Atlas. Yet the Bible tells us that God hung the earth upon "nothing" (Job 26:7) and the prophet Isaiah (c. 750 B.C.) spoke of the earth being a "circle" (Isaiah 40:22). The Hebrew word for circle was khug, which means something with "roundness or sphericity." How did Isaiah and Job (c. 2000 B.C.) know this about the earth?
The prophet Jeremiah declared that the stars in the sky were countless (Jeremiah 33:22). In his day (c. 600 B.C.), as in ours, only about 3000 stars could be seen on a clear night with the unaided eye. Hipparchus (c. 150 B.C.), said there are not more than 3000 stars in the sky. Twenty- two centuries later, Galileo caught a glimpse of the vastly greater number of stars with his telescope. For the first time, humans were able to see how numerous the stars are and admit that what Jeremiah said in the long ago is true.
In 1930, Sir James Jean wrote in his book, Mysterious Universe, that the "total number of stars is roughly equal to the total number of grains of sand on all the seashores of all the world." And almost 100 years later, the Hubble Telescope continues to confirm what the Bible said many centuries ago. In 2009 the Hubble Telescope was repaired by a shuttle crew. Shortly thereafter on NBC Nightly News Brian Williams reported on the new pictures the newly repaired telescope had taken. He said, "there are more stars and galaxies out there than we can count." But note: this scientific truth was written in the Bible thousands of years before it was discovered through a telescope.
The Bible is always right. It is the word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is right about my sins and yours. It is right about eternity. It is right about God's love for us and what we must do to be saved. Believe and obey the Bible.
