1 Corinthians 13

 

Four Greek Words for love:

  1. Storge - Affection; Love used for family
  2. Eros - Romantic
  3. Agape - Unconditional love; self-sacrificing love – Highest form of love; is the love that brings forth caring regardless of circumstance.
  4. Phileo - Friendship

  Jesus’ exchange with Peter after resurrection:

          1. Peter do you Agape me?

            Yes Lord I Phileo you.

          2. Peter do you Agape me?

            Yes Lord I Phileo you.

          3. Peter do you Phileo me?

            Yes Lord, you know I Agape you.

 

1 Corinthians 13:

    I.                   Love is greater than tongues, prophecy, and laying down one’s life.

a.       All of those things are worthless without love.

 

II.                Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

a.       Love NEVER Fails.
