Many books are in print but only one can make successfully the claims the Bible makes.
The Bible is inspired. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16,17). "Inspiration" translates a word which means "God-breathed". It denotes emphatically the source of Scripture. Jesus referred to Scripture when he said, "...have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God" (Matthew 22:31). What is written in Scripture is what God said.
The Bible is inspired verbally. The Bible is not God's thoughts written down in man's own words or man's interpretation of spiritual concepts from God. Rather, every word of the Bible is given by God. That is verbal inspiration. "Then the Lord...touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth" (Jeremiah 1:9). To his apostles Jesus said, "...take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak. For it is not you that speak; but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you" (Matthew 10:19-20). The apostle Paul wrote: "But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit.., which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches" (l Corinthians 2:10,13).
The Bible is powerful. God said, "and the universe came into existence" (Genesis 1). "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stoodfast " (Psalm 33:6, 9). "For the word of God is quick and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12).
