FORWARD - RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION

The book of Proverbs states, "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).  America was once considered a Christian nation.  The righteousness of its people has caused us to be blessed above every nation on earth.  The Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859), made this very point when he toured colonial America.  In fact, he wrote a book on this subject and called it Democracy in America.  The Psalmist wrote, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance" (Psalms 33:12).

America, as a whole, has taken the wrong turn.  It is a change for the worst.  Some contend there is no right or wrong, no good or evil, truth is unknowable and there is no sin.  We must stop and think.  Or better, stop and repent.  God points out, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God" (Psalms 9: 17).  Has America forgotten God?

The other side of the coin is the opposite of blessings we Americans enjoy today.  Sin ought to be a reproach to any nation (Proverbs 14:34).  However, judging by Hollywood standards, we revel in sin.  Homosexualism is honored rather than treated as an abomination.  Divorce is no longer a matter of shame and failure.  Judgement Day, once a fundamental truth of Christianity, is no longer heard from America's pulpits.  Yet, God  "hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead" (Acts 17:31).

America MUST return to its Christian roots IF we expect God to continue to bless us.  The symbols of Christianity, such as the cross and the Ten Commandments, are scattered throughout our state flags and carved on our public statuary.  We pledge our allegiance to "one nation under God."  And that God is the God of the Bible.  The "In God we Trust" on our coins, is the God and father of Jesus Christ.  If they offend atheists and infidels - so be it.  Our nation was not built on Atheism, Islam, Buddhism, or any other paganism.  America, as well as Western Civilization, was built on Christianity - and now we want to destroy our very foundation.
