FORWARD: PRO-LIFE THEN AND NOW

In our current Alice in Wonderland world,  we become more and more reluctant to say what we mean and mean what we say.  For example, if our moral position is pro-abortion, we claim to be pro-choice.  It sounds somehow more acceptable than pro-murder, even if God considers it a violation of the sixth commandment - Thou shalt not kill (Exodus 20:13).

On the other hand, if our moral position is anti abortion, we claim to be pro-life.  This is in keeping with our mores of accentuating the positive and eliminating the negative.  Everyone knows that our Creator always wants us to choose life.  However, as Jesus pointed out in The Sermon on the Mount, "Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" (Matthew 6:25).  Paul wrote concerning certain Christian widows, "she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth" (1 Timothy 5:6).

America is at a crossroad.  The choices are clearly marked for those that read road signs.  Christ made it clear - there are but two choices - the one leads to destruction and many take this freeway, the other leads to life and few find it (Matthew 7:13-14).  America has been abundantly  blessed by Providence.  Like Israel of biblical times we seem to be a nation of His people.  Let us not consider His blessings lightly.

When Israel was gathered on the plains of Moab (Deuteronomy 29:1), before occupying the promised land, God made a contract with his people Israel, He said, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live" (Deuteronomy 30:19).  Our commitment to pro-life must be life with God and His son as revealed to all men in His book we call the Bible.
