Hold To God's Unchanging Hand

Text: Heb. 13:5-8 Introduction:

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we can confidently say,

"The Lord is my helper;

I will not fear;

what can man do to me?"

7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 

We Live In A Changing World.

• Our Nation: laws on abortion, homosexuals, prayer, bible.

• When we put our faith in men we can be assured it will change: Man is unstable.

God Doesn't Change:

Malachi 3:6 For I, the Lord, do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed 

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

• Philosophies will change, but Jesus never changes! A Few Things About God That Never Change:

1. Hold To God's Unchanging Righteousness

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.

• God is not tempted by evil.

• God does not tempt anyone!

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the

Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

• Everything God gives is perfect and good, and it will always be perfect and good. Romans 10:3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

• 2 Cor. 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1. Hold To God's Unchanging Word:

• Men May Try To Change The Word.
• 1 Peter 1:25 but the word of the Lord remains forever."

 So we need to study God's word to know the truth better, then what is false will be apparent.

• Colossians 2:8-9 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

• 1 Timothy 4:1-9 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from
• the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,

• We will understand that Accepting any sin is changing the doctrine of God.

3. Hold To God's Unchanging Plan For Mankind:

• God is not subject to history, history is subject to God!

• Daniel 2:21-22 He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness and the light dwells with him.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare1 and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

4. Hold To God's Unchanging Plan Of Salvation:

• Salvation Was Planned:

Titus 1:2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began 

1 Peter 1:20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.

Gal. 3:23-28 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

1. 5. Hold To God's Unchanging Hope Of Salvation

1 Peter 1:5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

It is possible to be at peace with God!

• Our hope in Christ does not disappoint. 5:5
• Christ took care of our sin problem: 5:8
• Our justification comes by Christ's blood: 5:9
• Our salvation is by his life: 5:10

• Hebrews 6:19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
