The Consequence of Rejecting the God of the Bible

The fact that the founding fathers established our republic as a Christian nation is, or should be, incontrovertible. This fact is confirmed when we pledge our allegiance to the flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Equally incontrovertible, the fathers had in their hearts and minds that the God under consideration was Jehovah, the God of the Bible and NOT Baal, Dagon, or some contemporary equivalent!

The faith of our founding fathers also considered our country the modern equivalent of Israel of the Old Testament - Jehovah was our God and we were His people. When God's people were faithful, He blessed them and when His children became unfaithful, He chastised them. The fact that God operates among nations is obvious to the student of the Bible. He did so in the casting out of the wicked pagan nations of Palestine (Deut. 9, etc., etc.) and giving Israel the land "flowing with milk and honey."

America seems to be in the process of rejecting God. Americans need to be aware of the cost in continuing in this path. The overt and covert endorsement of abortion, homosexualism, "gay" marriage and other perversions of both natural and revealed law, are not only an abomination to the God of Heaven but also to any right thinking individual as well as to anyone that vaguely claims to be a Christian. With Joshua (Josh 24:14), of Old Testament fame, we need to choose whom we will serve.

If we turn back to God and seek His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33-34) first the necessities of life will be ours. In addressing His nation Israel (Malachi 3:10) He said, "if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." God has so blessed this nation with a living standard that the highest, not only in the world but in the history of mankind. Even our poorest of the poor live better than the best of many nations today. God has lifted us up as the only remaining super power.

Some criticize America as a selfish empire, conquering other nations and despoiling them of their oil and other natural resources. If the charge were true, we would be paying 50 cents a gallon for gas rather than approaching five dollars. The only international crime of which we are guilty is trying to impose a democracy (under God) to those that are ill prepared to handle it. If we, as a nation, reject God - HE WILL REJECT US AS HIS NATION. As Israel of old, we shall regret His rejection of us. Are we willing to pay that price?
