I have heard many debaters , but I have never heard one with a more ready recollection of God's word, giving chapter and verse without referring once to the Bible; and his application of the word was very forcible, indeed. Oftentimes when Mr. Dupont did not recollect chapter and verse, bro. Warlick readily gave them to him; and when he could not accurately quote certain scriptures, bro. Warlick promptly did it - not with any apparent boast of his retentive memory, but he simply tried to help his opponent in a courteous way. This had a telling effect on his hearers.
