Joe S. Warlick vs R. H. Pique (Methodist)
October 3, 1912
Marmaduke, Arkansas

(By T. B. Thompson)

The Marmaduke, Ark. debate is now a thing of history. The crowds were large at every session. We have only a few members at this place, but brethren from other places attended well. The propositions were general church questions. Each affirmed for two nights.

Mr. Pique had made the Methodist of the locality think that he possessed some strength as a debater, so you can imagine their great surprise when they saw him put to the test. Anyone could easily observe the look of defeat and disappointment that was worn by the Methodists, which dated from Warlick's first speech. Bro. Warlick did some of his best work with Pique in this debate, and I dare say that the Methodists will never call on Pique to meet Warlick in that community again. We propose to fix Pique in this country just like we have in West Tenn. and Ky. Pique had without doubt come to this part of the country looking for new pastures, as the Methodists of Tenn. and Ky. have grown tired of his puny efforts. If Mr. Pique ever comes around trying to offset the truth of the Bible, just remember that bro. Warlick can take care of him in such a way that even the Methodists will never want him again.
