C. B. Douthitt vs Ben M. Bogard (Baptist)
January 3, 1929
Mulberry, Florida

December 12-16, 1928 under a tent at Mulberry, Florida. They debated plan of salvation, apostasy, and origin of church.

To say that Bro. Douthitt defended the truth to the complete satisfaction of the Lakeland Church is to express it mildly. Several Baptists have expressed dissatisfaction with Baptist doctrine as presented by Bogard. One preacher who had preached 14 years for the Baptists came over to the Church of Christ.

On the last day of the discussion of the Church of Christ at Lakeland presented a written invitation for the speakers to repeat the debate at Lakeland. They agreed to do so, possibly, in March. The brethren of East Tampa also invited he debaters to repeat there. Bro. Douthitt accepted; Bogard did not. We want this debate repeated all over the state of Florida.

Elders, Lakeland Church of Christ: O. M. Whitlow, A. C. Walker.

Brethren there who preach: C. D. Moore, West Virginia; G. B. Hoover, R. B. Sweet, S. F. Morrow, Tampa, Florida; John B. Peden, Balfo Springs, Florida; Bushong Stead, Plant City, Florida, and many others who did not register. More than 1,000 people attended the last session.
