Chester Estes vs C. C. Clark (Missionary Baptist)
August 12, 1926
near Hayleville, Alabama

(By U. M. Lauderdale)

July 19-22 near Hayleville, Alabama.

Mr. Clark challenged and Bro. Estes accepted. Debate set for four days. Mr. Clark closed his part after three days because of a severe headache. Debate well attended by Baptists and Christians.

Clark used all arguments of average Baptist preacher except one new one, I Peter 1:23 which he applied the word of God to the one to be born and said that he would live forever. After the debate, one Baptist said Baptist doctrine would not stand the test. Another said: "The Baptists in Georgia do not teach such doctrine." Still another said: "It is not the doctrine taught by Baptists in Mississippi."

B. F. Howell moderated for Clark. U. M. Lauderdale moderated for Estes.
