I engaged the Russellites in four-day debate at Loveland, Colorado in the Majestic Theater. At this place last fall the "trouble" started between us. They put Fred W. Werner of Denver to meet me. The subjects: (1) State of the dead, (2) Duration of future punishment, (3) Question of probation after death, (4) The nature of baptism. It was a grand victory for gospel of Christ.
The Russellite position was so flimsy that it exposed itself in every instance. The demonstration by the people showed the effect the debate had on them. They could not be restrained from expressing their feelings. Russell's man did not sustain a single position. He seemed to think his unsupported word could be accepted as evidence. He came into the debate with this idea. He did not know all he said would be challenged. He refused to debate again. The Russellites felt their defeat at Loveland.
