J. H. Stone vs Prof. Waddell (Baptist)
March 3, 1932
Vinemont, Alabama

(By D. L. Owens)

Feb. 15, 1932

The debate came to a sudden close at the night service when Prof. Waddell refused to continue. He made two 30 minute talks on the proposition: "The Baptist church is scriptural in origin," in which he wandered from Genesis to the Red Sea and at last landed in the wilderness. He spoke at night on the subject: "The Baptist church is apostolic in teaching." He did a little better, but put up a weak fight. He was gentlemanly all the time, and used no slang. It was a complete victory for truth.

J. H. Stone upset everything Prof. Waddell had said; showed the false doctrine of a the Baptists; showed they were no kin to John the Baptist. Bro. Stone is prepared to defend the truth and expose error. Mr. Waddell said he did not have time to answer bro. Stone's last speech. He refused to debate the next day.
