Psalms 102:23-28

23 In the course of my life he broke my strength; he cut short my days. 24 So I said: "Do not take me away, O my God, in the midst of my days; your years go on through all generations. 25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. 27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end. 28 The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you."

If it were not so serious, it might be funny how mankind goes about life and thinks they are in control of things and they can determine what happens to them. One has to wonder if God does not ever just laugh at us when we begin to get proud and elevate ourselves in our minds beyond our true abilities. Actually we know how he feels about this because we have stories such as the events surrounding the tower that was begun at Babel and King Nebuchadnezzar eating grass.

We don't know what lies ahead for us or when we will die. What we do know for sure is that God lives and he is in control. He is never faced with a surprise, either by us or by anything else. Is he ever disappointed, grieved, angered or saddened? Yes, we do those things to him when we turn away from him and when we fail to realize how much he loves us. Paul reminds us that since God has already given his Son to die for us, he will "do all things" for us when we are determined to live for him and we truly trust him with our lives.
