Thoughts From Charles Weston

Now that Christmas is behind us, I'd like to ask:  did you get the gift you truly wanted, or perhaps there was one gift that stood out from all the others?

As Christians, we have been given the greatest gift of all:  the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ (John 3:16).  What gift could begin to surpass this one?  And if you're not a Christian, this gift doesn't come with a tag that says "Do not open 'til Christmas!"  You can accept this gift any time of the year!

Have you ever engaged in "re-gifting," the practice of giving someone a gift that you have received?  We can re-gift what has been given to us; in fact we are commanded to do so (Matthew 28:19, 20).  How about that: a gift you can pass on to an unlimited number of people!

Finally, I'm sure that many of us have heard the expression "the gift that keeps on giving."  We are promised (I John 1:7) that the blood of Jesus will continue to purify us from sin, so long as we stay in fellowship with him.

As this New Year unfolds let us remember with thanksgiving the awesome gift that has been given to us, and rededicate ourselves to sharing it with others.
