Division
Characteristic of our world is the problem of division. Family division. Political division. Racial and ethnic division. There is even division among the owners and players of professional baseball! And there is religious division. While God is sometimes indifferent to the things over which humans divide, such is not the case when it come to religious division. Jesus prayed, "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us" (John 17:21).
The apostle Paul wrote, "that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you" (1 Corinthians 1:10). After all, Paul wrote, "There is one body, and one Spirit...one hope...One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God..." (Ephesians 4:4-6).
Those who disrespect God's will for religious unity and speak or behave in a manner that causes division will answer to him on Judgment Day. "For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ...So then everyone of us shall give account of himself to God...Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace." (Romans 14:10-19).
