Let Us

"Let Us..." in Hebrews                                (The Hebrew garden is full of lettuce!)

Mutual Exhortation

Not mutual admiration society. Motivating upward by a higher standard.

Brotherly influence. Good brothers support and urge one another to do good things.

We are in this together: "We" occurs 51x in the Hebrews letter. See 3.12&13.

There are 14 "Let us" admonitions in Hebrews (... several related, recurring in repeated appeals).

Heb4:1  Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.

Heb4:11  Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

Examples of previous generations who fell short. Why? They lost faith & quit serving well.

We haven't made the goal yet. Time remains to win or fail. Keep pressing on.

Heb4:14  Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Why give up, when we have the best intercession there is? God's Own Son conveys our cause.

Heb4:16  Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

No need to feel inadequate or intimidated before the throne (the mercy seat) - by His grace.

Heb6:1  Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

Time to grow up. Build on basics by acting on them. Press on to learn more -- and do.

Heb10:22  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Heb10:23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Heb10:24  And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  - &v25

He has cleanses us. We are acceptable in the Beloved. He welcomes His children there.

And He will keep His word. What He promises is as sure as done. Watch and see!

Be there for each other. Incite affection & helpfulness. Come On - Let's Do This!

Heb12:1  Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Get 'down to business' / not 'play around' in this race of faith. We must cross the finish line!

Heb12:28  Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,

With grace in our hearts -- for the great gift of His reign -- we lift a sacrifice of praise.

Heb13:13  Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.

We are proud to suffer with Him who loves us and sets us free from sin.

Heb13:15  Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
