Thoughts from the Road
Number 3
A Little Kindness
We live in a world with a lot of malicious hate. We all know this. One of the
bad effects of this is that we don't see the good.
Laurie and I have been the recipients of some kindness
recently.
The first was when we were driving in a construction zone. It was rush hour and we were losing our lane. This nice lady let both of our trucks in. We are talking about 130 feet of tractor trailers and not very fast moving.
The second one was in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It was Victoria Day,
a national holiday in Canada and the dealership was closed. Not knowing it was
a holiday I called the number for the dealership. Darrell came down on
his day off and signed in 4 vans. This act of kindness saved us from reloading
the vans, driving back to the truck stop, and coming back the next day.
There were some others ...
but so many times we see anger.
Kindness starts with us as individuals. Do we actually live with good intentions?
Paul teaches us in Gal 6:9-10, "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for
in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have
opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the
household of faith."
As Christians this is what we do. So let us ask ourselves
some questions.
Am I doing this out of love or selfishness?
Do I have good intentions?
Will this hurt the ones I love?
Are we treating this person as if we would treat Jesus?
The Lord God of Heaven has given us a beautiful world to
live in and we are so blessed. We should bless others.
From the road and in Christ,
