The last couple of weeks we were in some bad weather. We had to get the tire chains out three times in two weeks.

Tire chains are heavy and when you have to put them on ten or more tires it is a lot of work and you have to be patient and do it right. If you have to drive with chains on they are only to get you to some place safe to park. You also have to do it right because the 60,000 pounds or more that you are driving is dangerous and can do a lot of harm.
In the summer we practice putting chains on a dummy set of tires because the time to learn is not in the cold and snow when you are going to go ten miles down a steep grade. If you don't get them on right then they might fly off and do damage to you or a car driving by. That could cause a accident and seriously hurt someone.

I find it odd that man can follow directions for this but not what the Lord God tells us.

God throughout the Bible teaches us not to add to or subtract from His word. What does man do? Man adds to and subtracts from His word.

If the consequences of not putting on tire chains or doing it wrong are dangerous or harmful what will happen if we ignore "such a great salvation?"

James 1:26-27 teaches us, "If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." This is pretty straight forward.  This is part of what God's religion is:

Watch our language.

We - you and me - each one of us is to do what we can to help the less fortunate.

Be in the world but not part of the world.

These are instructions for each individual. We can not get out of this.

How do we apply this to our lives?

Are we in God's Word daily?
Do we have God's Word in our hearts?
Are we doing what we can to follow the directions in love and faith?

Let us give attention to God's Word.

From the road and in Christ,
