Medical Mission Update #4

 Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Hey! Today I slept until almost 400 AM! We had to be on the vans at 600 AM so it was an early day. After breakfast downstairs in the hotel, it was off to Agno, a fishing village two hours north and west of Dagupan. We arrived about 810 AM and immediately started getting set up. Joe Higgins and the pharmacy team are amazing. They packed up all the medicine on Tuesday and unloaded it a classroom at a school that we were using as the pharmacy and doctor’s offices today.
There were about 100 people waiting when we arrived and at 900 the doctors began the clinic and we began Bible studies. I had 5 studies today with 9 people and we were outside under a tin roof on wooden benches and it was hot. All but three of the studies were interrupted by something as we were right in the middle of the action, but I got 4 of the people to agree to have Home Bible Studies with the preacher and introduced them to Arnell and he made appointments to follow up. He is a student at PTC and a fine young preacher who is doing a good work at Agno.
The village is a lovely fishing village that has been devastated by typhoons this year and both church buildings, the one by the beach and the one on the mountain have been destroyed. We are helping fund the rebuilding there.
We had a long Bible study with three of the doctors who are not Christians and that looks quite promising. We left about 430 and had to make a stop for Coke Floats at McDonalds in Alaminos! They were truly a treat!
We got to the Hotel about 700 PM and had dinner and then it was my night to speak at the team devotional. I had the pleasure of anounncing that apparently the super typhoon threatening this area has moved north and should not even bring flooding rains! Then my talk was on "Having faith when the wind blows in my life”. It was interesting to visit with 20 mostly preachers, elders and their wives about a problem we all face but it seemed to be well received and I know it applied to me!
After devo and a little visiting with each other and a few calls on Skype to Jamie and the girls it is bed time again. Tomorrow though we get to sleep in and do not have to leave until 800 AM! That will seem like noon! Hope I can sleep until 630 and the alarm rings! Send me an email if you read this and are interested! Love and appreciation to you all for being a part of this and help
