Trenton church of christ

SPRING 2013 Mission Trip

The Trenton church sent brother Chris Gerber, brother Don Walker and sister Jamie Walker back for the 12th trip this congregation has sponsored to the Philippines to work in Pangasinan on the island of Luzon.  On this trip, Chris worked mostly in the city of Urdaneta with Arnold Zambrano in kicking off a government sponsored program to help develop morals and spiritual values in those receiving government assistance. He would spend the mornings with the new congregation at Asingan and its young preachers and then work with the 4P program in the afternoons.
Don and Jamie spent much of their time working with the congregation at Binalonan.  Don spent the mornings teaching the ladies and men who had brought their children to the VBS program.  Jamie and the local minister's wife, Rica Ascunsion taught the children's VBS classes.  Jamie and Rica had over 150 children on several days and did an outstanding job!  During the afternoons when Don would go with Benny and Celine Gallardo and other members from Binalonan to conduct home Bible studies.
The weather was almost unbearable, even for the Philippines as the heat index was over 125F at least 8 days while we were there.  But that did not stop the work as 31 were baptized on this campaign and progress was hopefully made on finalizing the purchase of a lot to build a church meeting place.  The church in Asingan is just over 2 years old and has over 130 members but is still meeting in a school building outdoor auditorium.  We hope to get news any day now of the property being secured so we can begin the process of getting a permanent home for this fine congregation!
Once again a great trip that left us more blessed than those we were blessed to visit and work with!  Thanks for your help with it!
