A MATTER OF HEAVEN AND HELL

In a January 26, 2008 interview of Mark Henderson by Carla Hinton of the "Daily Oklahoman", Mark told about the decision of the Quail Springs Church of Christ to use instruments of music in their worship. Our concern should be: "What does the Scripture Say?" (Rom. 3:3) It is a matter of Heaven and Hell.

If Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16 authorized instrumental music in praise of God, then each individual in the congregation would have to play an instrument! God simply authorizes us to sing. Why would we want to add to God's will?

God loves us more than we can understand. He gave His Son to die for our sins. God is worthy of our worship, as revealed in the New Testament. We should not seek to be entertained. We should want to worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:2). When our worship pleases God, we glorify Him. God wants to bless us, and He will when we conform our lives to His great will. "Your are worth, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created" (Revelation 4:11).

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

"(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)"

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
