MORALITY - OLD AND NEW

It is obvious to any right thinking individual that the "new morality" is simply the old immorality gone to seed!  Morality is defined as "principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior" and as "a system of values and moral principles."

The "old morality" in our culture was and is based on Christianity as revealed by the Creator in that old fashioned book called the Bible.  As Paul puts it in Romans 1:16ff:  (1) the righteousness of God is revealed in the Gospel (or New Testament); (2) the righteous shall live by faith in that revelation; and (3) points out that because of the Judgment Day the wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness, as well as those that "hinder the truth in unrighteousness" (ASV).

The "new morality" in our culture is based on the rise of multi culturalism in our country.  In our new mufti-cultural world, Islamism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Atheism has become the new standard of acceptance.  It is considered politically incorrect to think, much less say, anything critical of this new found tolerance of any or all of the above.  Christianity alone remains unprotected against the slings and arrows of outraged political correctness.

Of course Atheism is a little out of place in this litany of now acceptable non-Christian religions.  Being godless, in denying the existence of any god, they do not meet the criteria of any known religion, pagan or heathen, much less the God of the Bible upon which Western Civilization rests. Even the newly touted Intelligent Design theory in the Scientific World remains untroubling to them.

The God that created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1) gives this commentary that fits the militant atheist of our day, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God," He then describes their condition, "They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good: The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.  "They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one" (Psalms 14:1-3).

All religions lay a moral foundation of good and evil, right and wrong!  Atheism has no such foundation.  They are without chart or compass in the storms of life.  They have rejected our value system based on the Christian-Judeo ethics of God's word.  Like many nominal Christians they have rejected the black and white world of the Bible and embraced the gray world of situation ethics.  Truly, like the Gentiles of old, they are without God and hope in this world (Ephesians 2:12).
