A Letter to God

"A LETTER TO GOD"

(II Corinthians 3:1 -- 4)

The days of writing letters is dwindling away. About the only time we write a letter is if it's letter of recommendationfor someone. Usually when we communicate to others we either text or email them. As stated, there are different types of letters. Letters of accommodation, business, thank you, how ya doing letters, and just checking in letters. What I want to focus on is the just checking in or personal letter. Letters have 3 parts: greeting (or salutation), body, and closing. Let me give you an example a letter a Christian may write to someone very important in his or her life:

Hello God,

I'm just checking in. I haven't talked to in a while. I humbly asked your forgiveness for my negligence. We are told to 'pray without seizing (I Thess. 5:17)'. Things have been good as a result of your grace. I've struggled at times. And forgot what you said in your holy word. I know you tell me to 'come boldly before you (Heb.4:16).' I know you have promised (that is your Son) that "I will be with you always.' (Matt. 28:20) I remember at times like this that you have said 'No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able (to bear), but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. (I Cor. 10:13).'

It's been difficult for me. Temptations are all around me everywhere I go (even in your house, would you believe it?). At times, my words have not been 'seasoned with salt' (Col. 4:6). I'm sorry for that, and ask you forgiveness.

But things have been great also; At one time I was without job. Now I have one. At one time, I did not know where the next meal, mortgage (or rent) payment was coming from, but it was paid. It was at those times I remembered what you said through your inspired writers in Psalm 37:25 "Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging for bread."

Oh yes God, you have been so good to me!! You continue to prove that you never break your promises like man does: I've been assured, "and being fully assured that what God had promised, He is able to perform (Romans 4:21)'. Again, I'm reminded of two things from your words. The first is what you tell us in Romans 5:1-5. The second being: Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow (James 1:17)".

Yes God, I writing to tell you how thankfulI am; how much I love You and your Son for all you continue to do for me. I can't stop giving praise to you! I can't stop witnessing to others about all that you continue to do for me! I can't stop telling others how much better their life can be if they just dedicate his/her life to you as per your plan of salvation. At times I can't hold back the tears of joy I have when I think of your grace, mercy, and longsuffering and forgiving nature. So I just had to write you this letter, not only to check in, but also to express my appreciation for all that you have done, and will continue to do as long as I remain faithful to your commandments. That's why very Sunday morning I can say as the Psalmist did "I am glad when they say unto me, let us go to the house of the LORD." (Psalms 122:1) That's why I say I can have a type of peace unlike that as the world give (read John 14:27).

So no matter what I go through, I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord' (Romans 9:38). So I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do. Thank you for Your Son Jesus Christ who died for us. Thank you for everything.

I'm closing now. I pray that I will get an opportunity to talk to you again real soon!

I write you in the Name of your Loving Son, Jesus Christ,

 With everlasting love,

A Christian
