EXPERIENCE

Pulpit Minister
Serves as minister to a small congregation. Preach sermons for all services as scheduled on Sunday .  I was required to serve as Educational Director, Youth Director, Outreach Minister, Vacation Bible School Director   I am responsible for the well being of the members. Provide counseling both family and marital when required. Visit the sick; both members and immediate family members of those who attend the congregation.  I established a Vacation Bible School program and instituted a puppet ministry~ Started a Fall Festival Program in 2013 designed to encourage the studying of Bible characters and to increase students participation in creative an~fun activities that are Bible centered.

Pulpit Minister

Served as minister to a small congregation. Preach sermons for all services as scheduled on Sunday and Wednesday. Due to size of congregation, I was required to serve as Educational Director, Youth Director, Outreach Minister, Vacation Bible School Director and organizer of Gospel Meetings. Coordinated all activities of the congregation both social and spiritual. I am responsible for the well being of the members. Provided counseling both family and marital when required. Visited the sick; both members and immediate family members of those who attend the congregation. Coordinated the sending of flowers during the illness and death of church members and their immediate family members. I established a Vacation Bible School program and instituted a puppet ministry~ Started a Fall Festival Program designed to encourage the studying of Bible characters and to increase students participation in creative an~fun activities that are Bible centered.

I established a teaching rotational program to increase member participation in the classroom teaching program. The program allows each departmental teacher to have six months teaching and six months off. I provided the oversight for the construction of a new building at Swancott. This construction was completed without incurring any debt. I established a recognition program for the youth to encourage achievement in school.

September 1992 to January 1994 Elder Street church of Christ Lineville, Alabama

Pulpit Minister

Served as interim pulpit minister for the Elder street church of Christ. I served in this capacity while serving as Deacon of Missions under the eldership of the West Huntsville church of Christ. Due to the location of the congregation, preached only for the Sunday morning service.

 

September 1980 to september 1992 West Huntsville church of Christ Huntsville, AL

Deacon of Missions and Outreach Ministry

Served as a deacon of Missions and the outreach Ministry under the elders of the West Huntsville church of Christ. In the Outreach Ministry I was respoDsible for the extension services for Todd Towers, Big Spring Manor, Huntsville Nursing Home, Johnson Towers and Parkview Village. I was responsible for the scheduling of speakers and worship service participants. This program provided worship services for residents confined to these facilities. I would assist in getting residents to and from the worship area. I was responsible for speaking at one or more of these services each Sunday. I also was responsible for the mid-week service conducted at Johnson Towers on Tuesday nights. I served as Co-chairman of the Mission Committee. In this capacity I was responsible for the interviewing of prospective candidates for Missionary work both stateside and overseas. I made recommendations to the elders after researching and evaluating the mission work. This required budgeting, traveling to other states (to include New Hampshire, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, and Georgia) and visiting other congregations. I also visited mission sites supported by the church at West Huntsville. This required annual visits to evaluate the progress of the work and to provide moral and spiritual support to the assigned missionary and his family. I prepared written and formal oral reports and evaluation to the elders after each visit.

July 1974 to September 1980 West Huntsville church of Christ Huntsville, Alabama

Team Leader

Served as a member of the West Huntsville church of Christ. I devoted many hours to the Lads to Leaders Program. Lads to Leaders is a developmental program for Christian youth. It serves as a training ground for youth in the areas of song leading, scripture reading, speaking, puppet ministry, scripture memorization, etc. This program was for boys and girls. I basically worked with the young men in speaking. I worked with my children as well as other groups in the congregation. We competed on a national level each year in Nashville, Tennessee with as many as 5,000 participants. Many of the youth came away with titles in their divisions(Two of my children won first place in their division). I served as a Judge in the speaking division for the competition held at David Lipscomb each year. I also worked as a Youth counselor in the Summer Camp Program held at Camp Neyati in Guntersville, Alabama. Each year the youth of the congregation would spend a week at the camp. I directed classes for the teens, guided art classes, and conducted special devotionals and nightly programs. During this time while attending the Preaching Workshop, I conducted the speaking service for Wednesday night. Participated in the speaking series and scheduled speakers for each Wednesday night.
