Joe S. Warlick vs T. E. Pinegar (Baptist)
November 26, 1908
Oak Grove, Alabama

(By James K Hill)

Held at Oak Grove, Ala. Nov. 10-13. Each affirmed: "The church of which I am a member possesses scriptural characteristics which entitle it to be regarded as the N.T. church."

Bro. Warlick is, indeed, a workman that "needeth not to be ashamed." While yet a young man, he is one of the strongest and most logical debaters now before the public. He maintains at all times his equilibrium, and is a forcible and impressive speaker. He shows remarkable familiarity with the scriptures. Throughout the discussion he not take his Bible valise or make a note, yet not a single argument or scriptural reference advanced by his opponent went unnoticed. In his affirmative he was especially strong, and the arguments adduced were unanswerable.

Mr. Pinegar is a young man with but little experience in public discussion. However, he is above the average Baptist preacher. With truth in his hands, he would be a good debater. Good feelings prevailed.
