John R. Williams vs I. N. Penick (Baptist)
January 25, 1906
Obion, Tennessee

(By J. R. Williams)
Parallel Sermons

Jan. 1-2

I. N. Penick of Martin, Tenn., a Baptist preacher who stands high with his people, and the writer did the preaching. Nothing like this before in Obion, Co., Tenn. Each preached on the plan of salvation - urging the people to hear the other side. Penick preached one day at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and I preached the same hours the next day. Large crowds came - good feeling existed. Each speaker gave his views and did not refer to his opponent. Some thought strife would bring the town on a warpath - not so. Very good feeling - profitable to all.
