Christian Church Preachers Converted
August 8, 1929

(By T. C. Wilcox)

Just one year and one month from last Sunday, July 21, 1928, Bro. Floyd A. Decker and I debated instrumental music in church worship. He was at that time the minister of the Murrell Boulevard Christian Church of this city (Paducah, Kentucky). Since that time we have been close associates. Last Lord's day, when the invitation was given, he came down the aisle and gave me his hand, saying he had turned his back on everything but what the Lord commanded. He was ready not only to preach the gospel in its purity, but to fight for that which he had one time fought against. With him came a number out of that congregation, including another fine preacher, Bro. Rice. A little while after the debate, Bro. H. B. Ford, another digressive preacher from that congregation, came into this congregation, at Nineteenth and Broadway. This makes three preachers. Others say they will obey at the next invitation.

When Bro. Decker went to preach his farewell sermon in Christian Church they refused him the pulpit.
