B. L. Douthitt vs W. L. Brandon (Missionary Baptist)
June 26, 1930

(By Thomas H. Burton)

Grew out of a mission meeting at Brandon, Florida by Thomas H. Burton. Baptist challenged for debate. It was not long after the debate began until all saw that Brandon was not equal to the task. He is a fine fellow, splendid conversationalist. Yet on the debating platform he did not make a good showing at all.

Bro. Douthitt vividly contrasted Baptist doctrine with the Bible. All could see. He pressed the opposition on many points to which Brandon ignored. Bro. Douthitt has a pleasant and powerful way to present the scriptures on the subjects under discussion. He met his opponent fairly and above aboard, and on every occasion showed himself master of the situation. The brethren quickly raised money to pay all expenses and had money left over.
