Incidental Comments Found In The Bible

In discussing the inspiration of the Bible, seldom is mention made about incidental (supplemental) comments found in the scriptures - - comments that would not have likely been included, had men been seeking to pawn off man-made writings as inspired.

Years ago when preparing a study on the inspiration of the New Testament, I compiled a list of such comments from the historical narratives of the gospels, from Acts and a few from the epistles. No doubt, this list is not all-inclusive.

Matthew 17:1 -- "after six days"
Matthew 27:21 -- "a man of Cyrene, Simon by name" (Mk. 15:21; Lk. 23:26)
Matthew 27:34 -- "mingled with gall"
Mark 2:14 -- "the son of Alphaeus"

Mark 11:4 -- "in a place where two ways met"
Mark 14:51,52 -- "a linen cloth"
