C. S. Austin vs J. S. Dean
March 19, 1914
Fulton, Kentucky
(By C. M. Stubblefield)

January 27 for four nights at Fulton, Kentucky.

Austin affirmed "The scriptures teach that the use of instrumental music in the worship of the Church of Jesus Christ is sin."

"I have attended many debates and have engaged in a few, but never in life have I seen a debate conducted in so faultless a manner. J. W. Shepherd and William Savage were moderators, and to those who are acquainted with Bro. Shepherd it is useless to say that everything indecorous was ruled out before the discussion began. Neither debater broke the rules and "it was good to be there."

We were pained at Bro. Dean's remark that he thought the proposition a foolish one and he took no pride discussint it. We had hoped to see him engage in its discussion until we all understood it beter. The Churches of Christ in W. Kentucky are anxious to have him meet Bro. Austin again and again.
