W. T. Beasley vs J. B. Hardy (Primitive Baptist)
January 20, 1910
Craigfield, Williamson County

Four-day debate at Craigfield, Williamson County, Tuesday, March 1.

Hardy affirms: "The scriptures teach that in regeneration the Spirit of God operates upon the alien sinner independent of the word." (Affirmed for two days)

On third day Beasley affirmed: "The scriptures teach that water baptism to a penitent believer is for, or in order to, the remission of past or alien sins." It is strange that Elder Hardy now proposes to deny practically the same proposition that was under discussion at Barton's Creek, Dickson County, Tennessee last November when he signed a statement that he believed "that remission of sins is received in baptism.."
