M. M. Beard vs W. M. Harrison (Methodist)
September 12, 1915
Craigfield, Tennessee

(By W. T. Beasley)

July 5-8 at Craigfield, Tennessee.

Mr. Harrison affirmed: "The scriptures teach that men are being saved without water baptism" He made many serious blunders. He said water baptism was a door into the Methodist Church, and afterwards agreed that the jailer and Saul were baptized with water. Bro. Beard asked him: "If the jailer and Saul were baptized with water, and water baptism is the door into the M. E. Church, and there was no Methodist Church for 1700 years after, will you please tell us what the jailer and Saul were baptized into?" He never answered.

Mr. Harrison, on being asked what the baptism of the Holy Ghost was for, answered that it put a person into Christ and was for the remission of sins. When Bro. Beard asked him if he had been baptized with the Holy Ghost, he answered "No and none of my brethren." Then they were unsaved and the M. E. Church was composed of sinners.

(W. T. Beasley moderated for Beard.)
