Subjects were: Conditional and unconditional salvation. The victory for truth was complete. Bro. Boaz drove Haines from every position that he took, and so completely and utterly routed him that he did not attempt to get the torn fragments of his speeches together.
Haines appears to be 35 years of age, and is a good speaker, but delivers his arguments in an unnatural, disconnected way; Bro. Boaz is 27, is a clear, forcible, logical speaker, and impresses an audience with his earnestness and respect for the truth. Haines appears to be seared as with a hot iron. He will sit unmoved under the most crushing argument, while his positions and criticisms are so completely exposed that even the children are astonished at his blunders. Boaz quoted 100 passages of scripture, gave Haines forty written questions, and filed sixteen objections against him. To this grand array of argument Haines made but little reply; and the questions he destroyed in the presence of the audience without attempting a reply.
The following preachers of the word were present: G. E. Claus, G. W. Houston, A. B. Blazer, J. Dunn and the writer. We believe that much good will result from this debate.
