J. R. Bradley (Taft, Tennessee)
May 31, 1906

Adventist preacher named Haysmer came to Taft in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Held five-week meeting. By request Bro. J. D. Floyd came and preached on Sabbath or Lord's Day. Mr. Haysmer was there and took notes. Haysmer tried to answer Floyd's speech at 4 p.m. He never touched Floyd's arguments.

Bro. Bradley got up and faced the audience after Haysmer spoke and challenged him to a debate with some gospel preacher. He refused for a while; but after I promised a nice, dignified debate, he agreed. But he wanted to call it preaching and not debate. "I told the people that we did not care what he called it, as long as we got to meet this false teacher."
