Ben M. Bogard Sick
March 13, 1930

(G. C. Brewer Reports from Memphis)

The Brewer-Bogard debate which was to begin at Memphis March 17, has been called off by Ben Bogard, who writes that he has a spot on his lung and is forbidden by his doctor to speak. Mr. Bogard has our sincere sympathy, and we trust he will soon recover and be able to come to this debate in the future - some time this year if possible.

Facetiously, Mr. Bogard also advises that he has just had some of the bone cut out of his head [nose]. In the  vein of humor we suggest that if he has had much of the bone removed he will henceforth know too much to debate for the Baptists. Perhaps what we debaters have been unable to do, the surgeon has accomplished. Humor aside, we wish for Mr. Bogard a speedy recovery.
