W. J. Butler vs D. L. Watson
October 14, 1915
Avant, Alabama

(By W. J. Butler)

Beginning on October 31 at 10 a.m. at Avant, Alabama there will be a four-day's public debate between W. J. Butler, Church of Christ, and D. L. Watson (no ordinance). Two propositions will be discussed:

Butler affirmed: I affirm that baptism in water, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is in force now; also that the Lord's Supper as instituted by Jesus Christ and spoken of in I Corinthians 11 is to be kept at the present time.

Watson affirmed: I affirm that Holy Spirit baptism is the only baptism required throughout the Christian dispensation, and it is the baptism mentioned in Ephesians 4:5. (Debate at Avant, near Georgiana, Alabama)
